We stand in grief and sorrow over the social injustice and inequity happening in our country today. During the COVID-19 pandemic, our country is fighting a war that is challenging us as front-line health care providers and essential workers to stand up and fight the virus.
Now, it feels like we are fighting another war as well, battling a social virus of violence, harassment, discrimination, disrespect and mistreatment towards fellow human beings. Just as with COVID-19, this social virus has no place in our society.
This is not who we are and is counter to the philosophy and values Ryders Health has been practicing for over 70 years. Our foundation rests on our essential values of respect, diversity, tolerance, inclusion, and sensitivity. We believe in the dignity of all human beings, recognizing that each person has physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs and rights and that these rights must be respected and cannot be violated.
At this touchpoint in history, we must redouble our efforts to fight these dual viruses plaguing our society and work towards creating a civil, healthy community rooted in kindness and caring for one another. We will get through this by working together to create a better world.
